Kappa Omega Omega Chapter works tirelessly to improve the social, economic and political conditions in the city of Bakersfield through its continued support of community led efforts such as the MLK Day of Service, Project BEST, Ernest Williams and Carlos Smith scholarships, National Day of Literacy, Feed the Hungry Canned Food Drive, American Cancer Society - Relay for Life, Juvenile Diabetes Walk (JDRF), Boys and Girls Club Angel Tree.

Since 1979, the Bakersfield chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has celebrated Kern County students preparing to further their education at the annual Graduation Awards Ceremony. Graduating seniors have received over 1000 scholarships totaling $300,000. Middle school honor roll students have been recognized for their outstanding achievement.

Miss Fashionetta began in the 1986. This community program works to inspire and mentor young girls and young women as they advance from high school to college and supports their scholarship and future academic endeavors in post secondary education.
